Founded by artist Mark Kendall in 2025, the Center for Decelerated Practice (CDP) is a newly established artist-run incubator for time-based, research-driven projects. Through residencies, programs, and exhibitions, CDP promotes experimental, interdisciplinary arts practices that embrace a commitment to slow and sustained curiosity. A former historic church, now desacralized, the building was acquired by Kendall using Pew Fellowship funds, restored, and brought up to code. Prior to founding CDP, Kendall partnered with the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage from 2020–23 to host their rotating annual cohort of Pew Fellows-in-Residence in the same space, laying the groundwork for its current iteration. CDP builds on the venue’s history as a space for artists while simultaneously inaugurating it as a more public-facing platform.
